Ivanka Trump Embraces Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: A Family Affair

Ivanka Trump has discovered a newfound passion for Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), joining the growing list of public figures who have fallen in love with the martial art. While the Trump family has long been associated with mixed martial arts (MMA)—most notably through Donald Trump’s close ties with UFC president Dana White—it seems Ivanka has found her connection to the combat sports world.

In a recent interview, Ivanka revealed that her BJJ journey began thanks to her daughter, Arabella. Initially, she would drive Arabella to classes but soon found herself stepping onto the mats as well. This sparked a chain reaction within her family, as her two sons and even her husband, Jared Kushner, eventually joined in.

She spoke about the many benefits she’s discovered through the sport:

“I most recently got into jiu-jitsu, courtesy of my daughter, Arabella. I started driving her to these classes. She started asking me to join, so I joined. Then my two sons wanted to do what their older sister was doing. Then my husband joined.”

Beyond the physical and self-defense aspects of jiu-jitsu, Ivanka appreciates its mental and philosophical dimensions. She described how the intricate techniques in BJJ feel like a complex puzzle, comparing it to "three-dimensional chess" due to the strategic movements involved.

She also highlighted the deeper spiritual connection she feels with the sport, recognizing its roots in Samurai tradition, culture, and wisdom. As someone drawn to philosophy, she enjoys how BJJ blends movement with deeper principles, making it both a physical and meditative experience.

With more celebrities and high-profile figures embracing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Ivanka’s involvement may help introduce the martial arts to an even broader audience. Whether for self-defense, fitness, or mental discipline, BJJ continues to attract practitioners from all walks of life.
