After being called out by newly crowned UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis, Israel Adesanya has broken his silence on the potential showdown. Du Plessis, who secured his first UFC title by defeating Sean Strickland in a thrilling battle, wasted no time in targeting Adesanya for his next challenge.

Du Plessis' journey to the championship began with an impressive TKO victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290, marking his eighth consecutive win and setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash with Adesanya at UFC 293. However, injuries prevented Adesanya from taking the fight, leading to Strickland stepping in and ultimately dethroning Adesanya with a masterful performance.

With Strickland's victory, Du Plessis was given the opportunity to challenge him for the title, a fight that culminated in a hard-fought battle where Du Plessis emerged victorious, albeit with a split decision from the judges.

In his post-fight speech, Du Plessis didn't mince words, calling out Adesanya and reclaiming the spotlight, prompting Adesanya to respond on social media, hinting at an inevitable showdown between the two.

The potential for a grudge match between Adesanya and Du Plessis has already captured the attention of UFC CEO Dana White, who expressed his enthusiasm for the bout, suggesting it could headline UFC 300.
