Brazilian MMA prospect Igor Severino is set to start a new chapter in his fighting career after signing with Oktagon MMA. The 21-year-old talent, who boasts an impressive 8-1 record, faced a significant setback earlier this year after a controversial incident during his UFC debut.
Severino’s promising UFC journey took a sharp turn when he was disqualified for biting his opponent, Andre Lima, at a UFC Fight Night event in March. This unsportsmanlike conduct led to his immediate release from the UFC, marking a low point in what had otherwise been a successful career. Following the disqualification, the Nevada Athletic Commission handed Severino a nine-month suspension, alongside a $2,000 fine and additional prosecution fees. Severino’s suspension will lift on December 23, allowing him to resume his career with a clean slate.
