Ian Garry is pulling out all the stops for his high-stakes co-main event against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Irish welterweight phenom has added an invaluable asset to his corner: former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Garry revealed the news earlier this week, expressing his admiration for Oliveira’s career and expertise.

“I read a stat the other day: Charles Oliveira went to the fourth round for the first time in his career after his 46th UFC fight,” Garry shared. “That’s insane! The guy is a machine! I f*cking love and adore Charles Oliveira with all of my heart... He’s an absolute savage. I love him, and he’s going to be in my corner for this fight.”

Garry’s matchup with Rakhmonov carries significant intrigue. Both fighters are undefeated, boasting combined records of 33-0 overall and 14-0 in the UFC. The fight is a rarity in the promotion, where two undefeated competitors clash at such a pivotal moment in their careers. To add to the stakes, Rakhmonov has an unmatched finishing rate, having never gone to the judges in his MMA tenure. He’s secured five UFC wins by submission and one by knockout.

Originally, Garry was set to headline a fight against former interim champion Colby Covington in Tampa. However, when welterweight champion Belal Muhammad had to withdraw from his bout against Rakhmonov due to a bone infection, Garry stepped in on short notice. Despite the change in opponent, the stakes remain sky-high: UFC officials have confirmed that the winner will face Muhammad for the welterweight title once he recovers.

Muhammad, the reigning champion, claimed the title in July by decision over Leon Edwards. This marked Illinois’ first UFC champion since Matt Hughes in the early 2000s. Now, Garry has a chance to secure his shot at gold—but only if he can overcome the dangerous Rakhmonov.

Will Garry’s short-notice preparation and Oliveira’s guidance lead him to victory, or will Rakhmonov continue his flawless run? The MMA world will soon find out.
