Gillian Robertson left UFC Fight Night 247 with a win over Luana Pinheiro but wasn’t fully satisfied with her performance. The Canadian fighter, now on a three-fight winning streak and holding a record of 15-8, admits her expectations were higher for the night. Known for her finishing ability with the second-most finishes among female fighters in UFC history, Robertson strives to avoid the judges’ scorecards, making her unanimous decision victory feel somewhat underwhelming.
“Not my best,” Robertson remarked in a post-fight interview. “I don’t feel like that was my best performance, so I guess I’m not on top of the world about this win. But it does feel good to get another win. It’s the first time in the UFC I’ve ever got three wins in a row, so I guess I’m happy about that.”
She revealed a sense of missed opportunity, admitting she could have pressed harder to achieve a stoppage, particularly in key moments when a finish seemed within reach. Throughout the 15-minute battle, Robertson saw moments where she could have taken more risks and been more aggressive.
“I just wish I stayed on her more – stayed on her face,” she said.
Robertson acknowledged she held back, especially in the early rounds, and regretted not opening up more, recognizing this could have potentially led to a submission or TKO.
Despite her critique, Robertson’s move to the strawweight division has paid off, with her recent fights showcasing steady improvements. At 29, she’s competed 18 times in the UFC and has remained committed to evolving her game. Her ultimate goal remains clear: a UFC title. With a plan to maintain a six-month fight routine, she’s focused on strategic advancement in the rankings.
As she continues her climb in the strawweight division, Robertson is aiming for opponents a couple of ranks above her current standing, hoping to build momentum for a title shot shortly.
