Gervonta Davis plans to retire from boxing after 2025: “This s*it is trash!”

Gervonta "Tank" Davis has stunned the boxing world with a bombshell announcement about his future. During the kickoff press conference for his March 1st showdown with Lamont Roach Jr. in New York, the WBA lightweight champion revealed his plans to hang up his gloves after 2025. Davis, known for his brutal knockouts and show-stopping performances, made it clear that his passion for the sport has faded.

“After next year, I’m out of it,” Davis declared. “Yeah, out of this sport… Sit is just trash. This sit is trash, garbage. I’m fed up, I’m fed up with this whole s*it.”

Davis, who last fought in June against Frank Martin, showcased his relentless dominance in the ring with an eighth-round knockout victory. The win came on the heels of his electrifying stoppage of Ryan Garcia in April, cementing his place as one of boxing's elite. However, Davis’ upcoming clash with Roach might mark the beginning of his farewell tour.

For Lamont Roach Jr., this fight is a career-defining moment. Riding a six-fight win streak and fresh off a knockout victory over Feargal McCrory, Roach has earned his shot at glory. But standing in his way is Davis, a heavy betting favorite and a man determined to close his career on a high note.

Despite his continued success, Davis’ love for boxing has waned. He expressed a desire to leave the limelight and lead a quieter life.

“I just want to be able to make money and stay out of the way. That’s it. I just want to be living, without being seen,” he stated.

While fans eagerly anticipate his return against Roach, Davis’ comments have sparked debates about his legacy and whether his retirement will leave a void in the sport.

What’s your take on Gervonta Davis’ retirement plans? Can he leave the sport with another iconic victory in March?
