From Octagon to Open-Faced: Paige VanZant Signs with Power Slap

Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant's fighting career takes an unexpected turn with a reported signing with Power Slap, a controversial competition centered on open-faced slapping.

VanZant, known for her exciting performances in the UFC from 2014 to 2020, explored other fighting avenues after leaving the promotion. She competed in BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) twice, losing both decisions, and most recently took on Elle Brooke in a celebrity boxing match that ended in a draw.

While fans anticipated an immediate rematch with Brooke or a return to BKFC, MMA journalists James Lynch and Amy Kaplan reported a surprising development – VanZant's move to Power Slap.

"Announcement is expected soon," Kaplan tweeted, hinting at an imminent confirmation.

Details regarding VanZant's debut opponent and competition date remain unclear.  This decision raises questions, considering her established presence in boxing and BKFC. Whether this is a one-time venture or a long-term commitment to Power Slap is yet to be seen.

VanZant's last professional MMA bout was a loss to Amanda Ribas in 2020. Her BKFC record stands at 0-2, and the draw against Brooke marked her most recent fight before the Power Slap news.

This unexpected move adds another layer to VanZant's already diverse fighting career. Fans will be eager to see how she adapts to the unique demands of Power Slap.
