Frankie Edgar Retired And It's Official
Frankie Edgar the former UFC champion and beloved figure in the MMA community, has officially laid to rest any rumors of a comeback. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Edgar made it clear that he’s focused on the next chapter of his life outside the octagon. “I’m not plotting no comeback. I didn’t want to retire but I made that choice. I thought it was the right time. I’ve been so busy with other things. It’s still in me. It will never go away. I’ll be 70 years old and that shit won’t go away.”
Frankie Edgar And Life Beyond the Cage
Since retiring, Edgar has maintained a familiar schedule, staying deeply connected to the sport he loves. “I’m in the gym in the morning and at night, I’m at practice with my kids or something. I’m helping a few local guys train here at Nick Catone’s,” he shared. His passion for MMA hasn't dwindled - instead, it's redirected towards coaching and mentoring the next generation of fighters.
A New Chapter in Tom’s River
Edgar is also excited about his upcoming venture: opening his own school in Tom’s River. This new chapter allows him to pour his experience and knowledge back into the community that supported him throughout his career. “Just chasing the kids, they definitely keep me busy. I’m not slowing down. I still train all the time,” he added.
The Legacy Continues
While Edgar’s competitive days in the cage may be over, his legacy in the sport continues to grow. His dedication to training, coaching, and his family exemplifies the true spirit of a fighter—one that doesn’t fade with retirement. Frankie Edgar may have hung up his gloves, but his impact on MMA and his local community is far from over.
