Francis Ngannou Hits Mark for PFL Battle of the Giants, Set for MMA Return Against Renan Ferreira
PFL Battle of the Giants: Francis Ngannou during weigh-in

Francis Ngannou is ready to step back into the cage as he prepares for his highly anticipated MMA return at PFL Battle of the Giants. At Friday's official weigh-ins, Ngannou weighed in at 256.8 pounds for his main event showdown against 2023 PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira, who tipped the scales slightly heavier at 261.5 pounds. The two will clash for the inaugural PFL Superfight heavyweight title, marking a pivotal moment in Ngannou's return to MMA after a successful UFC run.

This fight will be Ngannou’s first MMA appearance since his UFC title defense against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in January 2022. Following that win, Ngannou parted ways with the UFC to sign with PFL and pursue a career in boxing. Over the past year, he faced Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in high-profile boxing matches, losing a narrow split decision to Fury and then suffering a knockout loss to Joshua in March. Now, Ngannou returns to his MMA roots, seeking to reclaim his dominance in the sport.

The weigh-ins confirmed that all 18 fighters competing in Saturday's event successfully made weight, including Cris Cyborg and Larissa Pacheco, who will battle in the co-main event for the PFL Superfight featherweight title. Cyborg, who weighed in at 144.1 pounds, has remained undefeated since 2018 and currently holds the Bellator featherweight belt. Her opponent, Pacheco, came in at 144.5 pounds and is fresh off two consecutive PFL tournament victories in 2022 and 2023.

The event will also feature a middleweight title rematch between Bellator champion Johnny Eblen and Fabian Edwards. Both fighters hit their marks, with Eblen at 184.7 pounds and Edwards close behind at 184.9 pounds, setting the stage for another intense clash.

With the stakes high for multiple championship fights, fans are eager to witness Ngannou’s comeback and the outcome of this monumental PFL event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
