The PFL is gearing up for a spectacular pay-per-view event on October 19th, featuring the highly anticipated debuts of MMA powerhouses Francis Ngannou and Cris Cyborg. This event promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, with both fighters aiming to make a significant impact in their new promotion.
Francis Ngannou, with a record of 17-3, will headline the event against Renan Ferreira. This fight marks Ngannou's return to mixed martial arts after leaving the UFC in January 2023. His last bout was a successful title defense against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. Post-UFC, Ngannou ventured into boxing, facing Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Despite the losses in the boxing ring, Ngannou remains a formidable force in MMA, boasting a six-fight winning streak, with five of those victories by knockout.
Renan Ferreira, with a record of 13-3, is no pushover. Ferreira's last fight was a swift victory against Ryan Bader at PFL vs. Bellator: Champions, winning in just 21 seconds. Before that, he claimed the 2023 PFL heavyweight championship by defeating Denis Goltsov.
In the co-main event, Cris Cyborg, with a record of 27-2, will take on Larissa Pacheco. Cyborg's last MMA fight was a decisive first-round stoppage of Cat Zingano at Bellator 300. Since then, Cyborg has tested her skills in boxing, securing two stoppages this year.
Larissa Pacheco, with a record of 23-4, is a back-to-back PFL champion. She first won the lightweight season by defeating Kayla Harrison in 2022 and then captured the featherweight title in 2023 by beating Marina Mokhnatkina.
Both Ngannou and Cyborg are looking to claim the newly introduced PFL super fights championship belts. This event, announced on Wednesday, will be broadcast live on pay-per-view. While the location and venue remain undisclosed, the excitement surrounding these matchups is palpable.
