Fabian Edwards Confident Small Adjustments Will Secure Victory in Rematch Against Johnny Eblen

Fabian Edwards: 'Small details' will lead to rematch victory at PFL: Battle of the Giants vs. Johnny Eblen
Fabian Edwards

Fabian Edwards is gearing up for a high-stakes rematch at PFL: Battle of the Giants, where he will face off once again against Johnny Eblen, the undefeated Bellator middleweight champion. Edwards (13-3), determined to avenge his previous loss to Eblen (15-0) from Bellator 299, has his sights set on the title.

Despite the outcome of their first encounter, Edwards isn't letting the past define his future.

“It feels like the right moment,” Edwards shared during media day. “People might think it’s too soon, but I believe it’s the perfect time. One fight doesn’t determine the future. I’ve been there with him before, and this time it’s different.”

Edwards’ first fight with Eblen marked a break in his three-fight winning streak, but he bounced back quickly with a unanimous victory over Aaron Jeffery. Reflecting on his loss, Edwards explained that a small error cost him the fight. He’s taken this lesson to heart, dissecting the finishing moments countless times to make the necessary corrections.

“It’s all about the small details,” Edwards emphasized. “In this sport, it’s often those minor things that change the outcome. I’ve reviewed the first fight over and over and corrected that one mistake. This time, I’m ready.”

The scorecards from their first bout were split, highlighting how closely contested the fight was. One judge favored Eblen in both rounds, another sided with Edwards, while the third split the rounds between the two. This time, however, Edwards is certain that things will go differently.

“I’ll get my hand raised, no matter what,” Edwards said confidently. “I felt like I was winning the last fight before that slip-up. He didn’t outclass me in any way. But in MMA, with 4 oz. gloves, anything can happen. This time, it’s my turn.”

As fight night approaches, Edwards believes his refined approach and focus on precision will be the key to capturing the Bellator middleweight title.
