PFL chairman Donn Davis foresees a thrilling 2025 for Francis Ngannou, with "The Predator" expected to take on challenges in both boxing and MMA. After a headline-making departure from the UFC as heavyweight champion in 2023, Ngannou signed a groundbreaking deal with the PFL. However, his focus shifted to boxing, where he squared off against some of the sport's elite.
Ngannou’s foray into boxing saw mixed results. His debut against Tyson Fury was unexpectedly competitive, with Ngannou scoring a knockdown before losing via split decision. The performance elevated his reputation in boxing circles and set up a lucrative fight against Anthony Joshua. Despite the buildup, Joshua handed Ngannou a decisive second-round knockout loss.
While these matches may not have been flawless, Ngannou's paydays were monumental, and his potential in boxing remains undeniable. In October 2024, Ngannou finally returned to MMA, making a statement with a knockout victory over Renan Ferreira at the PFL Battle of the Giants.
Now, fans are eager to see where Ngannou’s career heads next.
According to Davis, the PFL is working closely with Ngannou to align his aspirations with their plans.
"We work very partner-like with Francis," Davis explained. "We sit down with him like you would any real partner."
Davis anticipates Ngannou competing in both sports in 2025.
"I think he’ll box once, and I think he’ll MMA once. What’s the order? Don’t know yet. What’s the timing? Don’t know yet," Davis noted.
Given Ngannou’s lucrative opportunities in boxing, Davis believes his next fight will likely take place in the ring.
"If I had to guess, I would think boxing will be first," Davis said, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with Ngannou.
Fans can expect an action-packed year for Ngannou, as he continues to prove his versatility and dominance across combat sports.
