A pivotal light heavyweight showdown is officially on the books as Dominick Reyes takes on Nikita Krylov at UFC 314 on April 12. While the UFC has yet to confirm the location, Miami is reportedly the leading candidate to host the highly anticipated event.
Multiple sources familiar with the UFC’s plans confirmed that both fighters have agreed to the matchup, which features two of the division’s most dangerous competitors.
Dominick Reyes, a former title challenger, enters the bout on a resurgence after enduring a challenging stretch in his career that saw him lose four consecutive fights, including a controversial decision against Jon Jones. However, the 34-year-old has bounced back in spectacular fashion, securing back-to-back victories in 2024. Reyes first defeated Dustin Jacoby in June and followed it up with a stunning knockout of Anthony Smith at UFC 310.
Looking to extend his winning streak, Reyes faces a tough test in Nikita Krylov. The Russian powerhouse ranked No. 8 in the UFC Rankings for light heavyweights, is known for his relentless finishing ability. Krylov last fought in 2023, but during his most recent run, he notched three consecutive wins over Ryan Spann, Volkan Oezdemir, and Alexander Gustafsson.
At 32 years old, Krylov is eager to reignite his momentum as he returns to action after more than a year on the sidelines. The matchup against Reyes represents an opportunity for both men to make a statement in the increasingly competitive light heavyweight division.
While UFC 314 has yet to announce its main event, the card is shaping up to be a must-watch. More fights are expected to be revealed soon, with Reyes vs. Krylov already serving as a significant highlight for the April pay-per-view.
