Diego Paez Seeks Redemption in ONE Fight Night 28 Rematch Against Sean Climaco

Diego Paez has long aspired to compete in the ONE Championship, and now that his debut is just around the corner, he’s fully prepared to seize the moment. The Colombian-American striker is set to face a familiar foe, Sean Climaco, in a high-stakes flyweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Fight Night 28: Prajanchai vs. Barboza, taking place this Friday, February 7, at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

For many rising Muay Thai talents, competing in the world’s premier martial arts organization is a dream come true, and for Paez, this is no exception. At 31 years old, he firmly believes that this is where he belongs, and now he’s ready to validate that belief on the global stage.

“It feels like destiny. I’ve always wanted to fight on the world stage to prove not only to myself but to my students and my family that you can do it, and you can be who you want to be as long as you believe and put in the work,” Paez stated ahead of the rematch.

His clash with Climaco carries an intense history. The two first met in 2020, when Climaco secured a knockout victory. In their rematch, Paez delivered a far more competitive performance, even dropping Climaco at one point. However, the contest ended in a razor-thin majority draw, leaving their rivalry unsettled. Now, five years later, Paez finally gets the chance to break the deadlock and claim his first victory over his adversary.

Both fighters have grown immensely since their last encounter, earning their place on the grand stage of ONE Championship. However, Climaco has already had multiple opportunities to showcase his abilities in the promotion, while Paez is stepping into the spotlight for the first time. He sees this bout as not just a rematch, but a defining moment in his career.

Despite never securing a win over Climaco, Paez is determined to turn the tide. On the biggest platform of his career, he is ready to prove his level and make a statement in his ONE Championship debut.
