David Morrell Jr. Sets Sights on Super Middleweight fight with Caleb Plant

David Morrell Jr., the undefeated Cuban southpaw, is eyeing a major challenge in his next bout, with his sights set on facing either David Benavidez or Canelo Alvarez. However, Morrell (10-0, 9 KOs) is willing to settle for a showdown with former super middleweight champion Caleb Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) to prove himself against a top-five fighter in the 168-pound division.

"I love Caleb Plant," said Morrell "He's a great boxer. I respect him. If it's next with him, OK, let's go. You know, I'm ready. I'm not scared of anybody. I'm ready."

Plant, however, seems more interested in a potential clash with rival Jermall Charlo, following a highly publicized incident where Plant slapped Charlo during an altercation. Despite this, Morrell's recent performances suggest he could be a more formidable opponent for Plant than Charlo.

Morrell, who recently defeated Sena Agbeko in the second round at The Armory in Minneapolis, has been making waves with his dominant performances. His quick victories over Agbeko and Yamaguchi Falcao have showcased his power and skill in the ring, making him a rising star in the super middleweight division.

While Plant has been out of action for 8½ months since his defeat to Benavidez, Morrell remains eager to face him, recognizing Plant's boxing prowess and the potential for an exciting showdown between the two talented fighters.

The 25-year-old Morrell has been making a name for himself with his impressive performances, and a matchup with Plant could be a significant step towards establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the super middleweight division.
