MMA legends Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen are set to square off once again—but this time, they are rival coaches in Season 33 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). The announcement, made during the UFC 311 broadcast, has fans buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a season full of competition and personality clashes.

This marks Cormier's second stint as a TUF coach. Sonnen, however, is no stranger to the role, having previously led teams on two seasons, including TUF: Brazil 3 opposite Wanderlei Silva. Season 33 will feature fighters from the welterweight and flyweight divisions competing in a tournament format, with the ultimate prize being a UFC contract.

Both men bring Hall of Fame credentials to the show. Cormier, inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s Modern Wing in 2022, is celebrated as a two-division champion, holding titles in the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions. His storied rivalry with Jon Jones remains one of the most talked-about in UFC history.

Sonnen, inducted alongside Anderson Silva into the Hall of Fame’s Fight Wing in 2024 for their iconic UFC 117 battle, may not have secured a UFC title. Still, his three title challenges and undeniable charisma have left an indelible mark on the sport.

The dynamic between Cormier and Sonnen promises to be a highlight of the season. The two currently share the spotlight as co-hosts of the popular Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast, showcasing their contrasting personalities. Cormier’s professionalism and Sonnen’s brash, unfiltered takes are expected to translate into fiery moments as they guide their respective teams.

With a cast of hungry contenders vying for a UFC opportunity, TUF 33 is shaping up to be a must-watch season. Fans can expect a mix of high-level coaching, intense competition, and entertaining banter between two of the sport’s most recognizable figures.
