Dana White's Mount Rushmore of UFC Fighters: A Legacy of Legends

Dana White's Mount Rushmore of UFC Fighters: A Legacy of Legends
Dana White

When it comes to naming the top four UFC fighters of all time, Dana White didn’t hesitate. The UFC president, a long-time authority in the sport, revealed his personal "Mount Rushmore" of MMA ahead of UFC 306. And while the list may not shock many die-hard fans, White gave clear reasons why each fighter earned their spot as the greatest in UFC history.

“You’ve got to go with Jon Jones,” White said emphatically when speaking to ESPN. “You have to go with Ronda Rousey. Women would not be fighting in the UFC if it wasn’t for her. You would have to put GSP (Georges St-Pierre) in there and absolutely, positively Conor McGregor. He elevated and changed the game globally.”

Starting with Jon Jones, White has consistently praised him as the best pound-for-pound fighter ever to compete in MMA. With 16 title fights under his belt, the most in UFC history, Jones' dominance in the octagon remains unparalleled. His place in the UFC’s history is undeniable.

Next up is Ronda Rousey, who White credits for the existence of women in the UFC. Rousey’s reign as bantamweight champion and her influence on bringing women into the sport cannot be overstated. Her dominance, charisma, and impact still resonate despite her exit from the sport after two losses.

Georges St-Pierre (GSP), another all-time great, boasts a career of title defenses and wins that rank him just behind Jones. With reigns in two weight classes and nine consecutive welterweight title defenses, GSP’s legacy is enshrined in UFC history as a statistical juggernaut.

Finally, Conor McGregor revolutionized the sport globally. As the first fighter to hold two UFC titles simultaneously, McGregor's influence extends beyond his record. His star power brought new eyes to the UFC, solidifying his place as one of the greatest.
