Dana White, UFC CEO, is never one to shy away from controversy, and he didn’t hold back when the PFL recently took aim at one of their former stars, Kayla Harrison. The PFL posted a social media clip highlighting Harrison’s sole career loss to Larissa Pacheco in 2022, right before she triumphed against Ketlen Vieira at UFC 307.
White wasn't surprised by the PFL's maneuver. In his blunt style, he commented,
“I think when you’re losing as much money as they are, f*cking go for it.”
Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo, spent the first 17 fights of her MMA career with the PFL before transitioning to the UFC. Now, it seems her old promotion is attempting to cash in on her past loss.
The jab from the PFL didn’t go unnoticed by White, who has frequently taken shots at the organization. This latest skirmish comes just before the PFL’s pay-per-view event in Saudi Arabia, headlined by Francis Ngannou. White pointed out the irony of PFL’s financial strategy, especially given co-founder Donn Davis’s recent claim that they’re spending more on their event than the UFC did on UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
White fired back with his signature wit,
“This guy [Donn Davis] just came out recently and said ‘you know we’re going to spend more money than they did on the Sphere.’ That sounds f*cking brilliant. How many tickets are you going to sell? They’re not very bright.”
While the UFC continues to dominate the MMA world, White clearly enjoys taking aim at his competition. As for the PFL’s attempt to stir the pot by mocking Harrison, White concluded,
“They’re drowning. They suck. They’re not good at what they do. I guess you would just keep trying anything you can to make something stick.”
