Bryce Mitchell’s Controversial Comments Spark Outrage; Dana White Responds

UFC featherweight contender Bryce Mitchell has found himself at the center of a storm of controversy following his shocking comments on the debut episode of his ArkanSanity Podcast. During the episode, Mitchell defended Adolf Hitler, denied the Holocaust, and made inflammatory remarks about the LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities, sparking widespread backlash.

Mitchell, who initially doubled down on his statements, later took to Instagram to issue an apology, stating, “I’m sorry I sounded offensive. I definitely was not trying to offend anybody, but I know I did.” He added, “I know a lot of people died in the Holocaust, and that’s a fact. Hitler did a lot of evil things, I think we can all agree on that. I’m definitely not a Nazi, and definitely do not condone any of the evil things Hitler did.”

The UFC’s president and CEO Dana White, known for his candid responses, did not hold back in his criticism of Mitchell’s comments. In a statement to ESPN, White said, “I’ve heard a lot of dumb and ignorant s--- said over the years, but this is probably the worst. Hitler is one of the most disgusting and evil human beings to ever walk the Earth, and anyone that even tries to take an opposing position is a moron.”

White, speaking after a Power Slap event in Saudi Arabia, called Mitchell’s remarks “beyond disgusting” and pointed to the dangers of unfiltered platforms. “That’s the problem with the internet and social media. You provide a platform to a lot of dumb and ignorant people,” White said.

Despite his strong condemnation, White made it clear that the UFC would not be taking disciplinary action against Mitchell. “It’s free speech,” White remarked. “That’s the beautiful thing about this business—for all of you who hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to see him hopefully get his ass whooped on global television.”

Mitchell’s comments, which included calling Hitler “a good guy” who “fought for his country,” have sparked outrage across the MMA community and beyond. Fans and fighters alike have taken to social media to express their disappointment and anger over the fighter’s remarks.

Adding fuel to the controversy is Mitchell’s history of making polarizing statements, often leaning into conspiracy theories and divisive rhetoric. However, this latest incident has elevated the discourse around free speech and accountability in professional sports.

As of now, Mitchell has not been booked for another UFC fight, and it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact his future in the promotion. His apology, while acknowledging the offensiveness of his comments, has done little to quell the backlash.

The incident serves as a reminder of the platform athletes wield and the responsibility that comes with it. For Mitchell, the fallout from his comments may be a turning point—whether he uses this moment for personal growth or doubles down on his controversial views will determine how he is remembered both in and out of the Octagon.
