Curtis Blaydes Out; Derrick Lewis In for UFC São Paulo Main Event Against Jailton Almeida

Derrick Lewis, the former UFC heavyweight title challenger, will have the opportunity to continue his winning streak after his last performance.

Lewis will step in for the injured Curtis Blaydes in the UFC Fight Night: São Paulo on November 4th.

Blaydes’ injury is unknown but severe enough to force him out of the event just weeks before. Lewis returned to the win column with a first-round knockout of Marcos Rogério de Lima at UFC 291 in July.

Prior to that, he suffered three consecutive losses, including knockout defeats to Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich. Lewis will try to be the first fighter to finish the surging Almeida inside the UFC Octagon.

Almeida has won 14 straight fights overall and is undefeated in his UFC career, with recent knockouts of Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Shamil Abdurakhimov.

Almeida got into the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021. He knocked out Nasrudin Nasrudinov on DWCS before winning his first five official UFC fights."
