Conor McGregor has finally disclosed the injury that led to his withdrawal from the scheduled return fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303.
The Irish superstar was set to make a comeback after a three-year hiatus following a severe leg break in his 2021 bout against Dustin Poirier. Unfortunately for McGregor, he revealed that this time he suffered a broken toe which prevented him from competing. Despite this setback he expressed his determination to fight again.
“We were so f*cking super ready for this fight, it's absolutely gut wrenching to take,” McGregor wrote on Instagram. “I want that new Bugatti! How am I going to justify getting that now without banking these fights? We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing full protective gear and I hit the toe off the elbow and broke the toe clean. It needs a few weeks that’s it. I couldn’t justify to my team, or fans, that I make the walk hindered again. That walk has been seen."
Alex Pereira is stepping up to replace the bout and will be competing against Prochazka yet again. Ironic that he competed in UFC, defending his title with toe injuries. It's like we're dealing with fractals of toes here.
Despite McGregor's toe injury he does promise his fans to fight again, although he hasn't confirmed if Chandler will be his opponent still. We can expect the notorious one to announce that soon! Fight.TV is here for it!
