Connor McGregor calls Tom Aspinall a “mush headed rat”

UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall was Conor McGregor's most recent Twitter target after Aspinall appeared dismayed with his 2023 comeback.

After facing Chandler as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 31, McGregor will meet him again later this year. He hasn't competed for almost two years after sustaining a leg injury at UFC 264.

Despite his extended absence from competition, McGregor has been active on social media during his recovery. This time, he chose Aspinall as his target.

In a recent interview with Jamal Niaz, Aspinall seems unconcerned about McGregor's impending comeback.

“Honestly, I’m not that interested in it. I’ll still watch it but I’m kinda of over McGregor,” Aspinall said. “For me, there’s way more exciting fights out there than that.”

"The heavyweight fight coming up that I’m super invested in, the London card, Leon Edwards, I could sit here and name them all day. There’s another 20 fights I’m more interested in. Will I watch it? Yeah, but if it gets canceled, I won’t be upset about it.”

In a since-deleted post, McGregor responded to Aspinall by calling him a "mush head rat."

“Bum prick. Say sayonara to that gk deal kid,” McGregor said in a since-deleted tweet. “Starve you and kill you I will you fucking disrespectful prick. Don’t ever speak my name in disrespect again. Mush potato head.”

McGregor and Aspinall don't appear to have a history of bad blood. Yet that hasn't prevented McGregor from going after opponents in other weight divisions.

After suffering back-to-back defeats to Dustin Poirier, McGregor is attempting to revive his fighting career. His most recent victory came at UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone.

Aspinall is making progress after sustaining a leg injury against Curtis Blaydes at UFC London in July. Before getting hurt, he had won eight straight races, including victories over Alexander Volkov and Sergey Spivak.
