Claressa Shields Calls Out Jake Paul: Could the ‘GWOAT’ Handle ‘The Problem Child’?

Claressa Shields
Problem Child vs GWOAT

Women’s boxing icon Claressa Shields has never been one to shy away from a challenge. The self-proclaimed ‘GWOAT’ (Greatest Woman of All Time) is known for her dominant performances inside the ring, holding multiple world championships in three weight classes. However, her latest target isn’t a title—it’s one of the most polarizing figures in boxing today: Jake Paul.

Jake Paul, aka ‘The Problem Child,’ has become a lightning rod in the boxing world. Love him or hate him, the YouTuber-turned-fighter continues to shake up the sport, drawing big crowds and sparking endless debates about his legitimacy. Last month, Paul squared off against the legendary Mike Tyson in a professional bout. While many hoped the 58-year-old would hand Paul his first loss, the younger fighter instead cruised to a dominant decision victory, silencing some critics while adding fuel to the fire for others.

Claressa Shields Wants In

Now, Claressa Shields is throwing her name into the mix of those eager to face Jake Paul. Speaking with Overtime Boxing, Shields doubled down on her belief that she could outbox the YouTuber.

“I would beat him in a fight, and you know that,” Shields boldly declared. “Yeah, absolutely [in ten-ounce gloves and no headgear]. I’m a big woman. The biggest and strongest man doesn’t win all the fights. So what’s the difference here? I’ve been boxing for 18 years. 18.”

Shields didn’t mince words, highlighting the skill gap she believes separates them. “He’s got to be able to break me down, and he has to be able to hit me. I’ve got to be able to break him down, and I’ve got to be able to hit him. It’s certain things that I can do, that he doesn’t even know yet.”

Is an Intergender Match Realistic?

While the idea of an intergender boxing match might seem like a gimmick to some, it would undeniably draw massive attention. Shields’ confidence and decorated career make her a compelling opponent, and Paul has built his brand on taking on unconventional challenges.

Still, such a fight would raise questions about fairness, safety, and logistics. The boxing world has rarely ventured into intergender territory, and a bout like this would push boundaries, sparking debates that go far beyond the ring.

What’s Next for Shields and Paul?

For now, Claressa Shields has her sights set on Danielle Perkins, whom she’ll face in February under DAZN’s banner. Meanwhile, Jake Paul’s next move remains uncertain, though fans can be sure he’ll continue to stir up controversy.

Would Jake Paul consider a fight with Shields? If his track record is any indication, he thrives on taking fights that generate buzz, and this one has all the ingredients to be a headline-grabber.

The Question Everyone’s Asking

Could Claressa Shields defeat Jake Paul in the ring? The boxing community is divided, with some pointing to Shields’ technical brilliance and experience, while others argue Paul’s size and unorthodox style could pose challenges.

At Fight.TV, we say: why not? In a world where spectacle often takes precedence over tradition, a Shields vs. Paul matchup could be just the kind of fight to keep the boxing world talking.

What do you think? Does Shields have what it takes to hand Jake Paul a loss? Or is ‘The Problem Child’ too much for even the ‘GWOAT’? Let us know in the comments!
