In a disappointing turn of events for MMA fans, Chris Curtis has announced that he will not be fighting Kevin Holland at UFC 307 in October due to an injury. The veteran middleweight took to social media late Wednesday to share the news, revealing that a training injury has sidelined him for the remainder of 2024, possibly extending into early 2025.

“I’m fine, guys. Bit of a fracture in my left foot,” Curtis explained on X.

The injury occurred during the final round of sparring when Curtis caught Caio Borralho on the knee. However, the real setback came with the diagnosis of a Lisfranc injury, a condition that involves either broken bones or torn ligaments in the midfoot. This injury is notorious for its severity and the lengthy recovery time it often requires.

Curtis, who has had a roller-coaster year, acknowledged the silver lining in his situation.

“The bigger problem is I have something called a Lisfranc injury as well, which means I’m not even supposed to be walking without crutches the next four to five weeks, which sucks but had it been any worse, it would have possibly been surgical,” Curtis shared on X. “So count your blessings there. Hopefully, I’ll be OK for December. If not, I’ll see you all next year.”

This injury comes as another blow to Curtis, who has faced a series of challenges throughout 2024. After kicking off the year with a win over Marc-Andre Barriault, Curtis suffered a close decision loss in a short-notice rematch against Brendan Allen in April. A subsequent hamstring injury kept him out of action for several months, and now, just as he was gearing up for his October bout against Holland, the fractured foot has dashed those plans.

The UFC has yet to announce a replacement opponent for Kevin Holland, but sources indicate that the search is on to keep him on the October 5 card at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates as the event approaches.

Despite the setback, Curtis remains optimistic about his recovery and return to the Octagon. Whether it’s later this year or in 2025, fans can be sure that "The Action Man" will be back, ready to make up for lost time.
