Chael Sonnen Predicts Israel Adesanya's UFC Return, Potential Matchup at UFC 300

Chael Sonnen has made bold predictions about the return of former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya to the UFC. Adesanya has been absent from the Octagon since his defeat to Sean Strickland in September, where he lost his middleweight title in a one-sided decision. Despite initial jests about a lengthy hiatus until 2027, Adesanya has since hinted at an earlier comeback.

Sonnen, speaking on his YouTube channel, claimed to have insider information about Adesanya's return. According to Sonnen, Adesanya and the UFC have reached an agreement for his return, with plans for him to face the winner of the upcoming bout between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 300.

"The reason that Strickland and Du Plessis was rushed to the marketplace is because the winner is going to take on Izzy at UFC 300,"

Sonnen revealed. While emphasizing that the deal is not finalized, Sonnen expressed confidence in the likelihood of this matchup. He also stressed the importance of Adesanya making his intentions clear before the Strickland vs. Du Plessis fight, to avoid any perception of favoritism in his opponent selection.

The middleweight title bout between Strickland and Du Plessis is scheduled for UFC 297 on January 20 in Toronto. Sonnen highlighted the significance of this matchup, noting that a clash between the winner and Adesanya at UFC 300 would be a highly anticipated event with compelling storylines for both potential opponents.

Israel Adesanya, with a professional record of 24-3, is known for his impressive UFC tenure, having defended his middleweight title five times. His upcoming return is eagerly awaited by fans and pundits alike, as he seeks to reclaim his status as one of the most dominant forces in the division.
