The Cage Warriors are back for the second day in a row, this time with Cage Warriors 138 as the Cage Warriors 137 (if you haven't seen the results and highlights of Cage Warriors 137 click here) to exit Charter Hall in Colchester, England. Ready for The Cage Warriors 138 five-fight card headlined a thrilling middleweight bout between England's James Webb and Italy's Leon Alio.
Cage Warriors 138 will be headed by returning former middleweight champion James Webb, who will face Italy's Leon Alio 9-1 in search of a strong victory to push himself back into the title race.
James Webb vs. Leon Alio Preview
Webb lost his middleweight title to Mathias Frederick in November 2019 but returned to form with victories over Mick Stanton and Craig White. But that momentum was affected when he was dismissed by Matt Bonner in Cage Warriors 121 in March 2021.
Now Webb is back, and he faces European opposition on the form in Alio as he seeks to re-emerge his championship credentials at 185 pounds.
The co-main event will feature a bantamweight scrap between British prospects Luke Shanks and Josh Reed. Former Cage Warriors flyweight champion Shanks (9-3) will fight for 135 pounds for the first time since his promotional debut in 2018. He lost the belt to Sam Creasey last year, but had a chance to win. He returned just two months later when he met Creasey again in the match. Although Schenk achieved a measure of revenge with a first-round knockout by Creasey, he could not win back his belt, which weighed almost two pounds beyond the championship limit. As a result, he will advance to a weight class to compete against Wales Reed (12-6), a 14-fight veteran of the promotion as he shows he can be quite effective in bantamweight. It's like he was in the flyweight.
And finally, the fight card was dealt a blow with the news that the flyweight match-up between Coner Hignett and Michelangelo Lupoli had ended when Hignett was medically challenged to compete by the Safe MMA. Was not cleared
