UFC featherweight contender Bryce Mitchell has set his sights on a potential clash with Movsar Evloev following Aljamain Sterling's withdrawal from their scheduled fight at UFC 307. Mitchell, known as ‘Thug Nasty,’ last fought in December when he stepped in on short notice to face Josh Emmett. Despite his efforts, Mitchell suffered a tough first-round knockout loss.
Now, at 29 years old, Mitchell is eager to make a comeback. In a recent interview with The Schmo, he expressed interest in stepping up to fight Evloev, but with a catch—he's not willing to take the fight on short notice. After learning from his experience with Emmett, Mitchell wants adequate time to prepare, suggesting that a two-month delay would be reasonable.
“Well dude, you know what happened the last time I took one on short notice,” Mitchell remarked, referring to his previous loss. “Hell dude, it was ugly. So, I’m wise enough to respect that I need more training. I want that fight, I’m down. That’s all I need is two months, and I think that’s fair to ask. If he really wants that fight, two months is not that long of a wait for what they’re paying him. He can survive two more months without a paycheck.”
Mitchell emphasized that he’s the perfect opponent for Evloev, especially with Sterling’s injury forcing a change in plans.
“So, I think he should fight me in two months… If Aljo doesn’t want to fight him in a couple of months because he needs more time and they need someone, I’m the dude,” he continued.
Confident in his drawing power and skills, Mitchell believes he’s the fighter fans want to see take on Evloev, and he’s determined to make it happen.
“The people want to see me fight Movsar, I want to kick his a*s because he’s being a little bastard to me.”
In addition to Mitchell, rising contender Jean Silva has also expressed interest in stepping in to fight Evloev after his knockout win over Drew Dober in July. UFC fans are now left wondering which fighter will ultimately face Evloev in the octagon.
