Brazilian Boxer Crowned Beatriz Ferreira IBF Lightweight Champion

Brazilian boxer Beatriz Ferreira, known as the "Beast," claimed the vacant IBF lightweight title with a dominant performance against Yanina del Carmen Lescano. Ferreira secured victory by a technical decision in the sixth round after Lescano suffered a severe gash over her left eye from a head clash.

Ferreira, with a record of 5-0 (2 KOs), expressed her happiness and gratitude for becoming a world champion. Despite the fight not going as planned, she promised a more spectacular performance in her next bout and also set her sights on winning Olympic gold in Paris this summer.

Lescano, now 14-4 (4 KOs), initially utilized her height and reach advantages but struggled to keep Ferreira at bay. Ferreira's aggressive approach, including powerful left hooks and body shots, gradually took control of the fight.

In the fifth round, Ferreira landed a series of significant blows, causing a deep and jagged cut over Lescano's left eye. Despite surviving a doctor's inspection in the sixth round, the fight was stopped due to the one-sided nature of the contest, with the referee declaring Ferreira the winner by technical decision with scores of 59-55 and 58-55.

In a separate bout, Liverpool featherweight prospect Joe McGrail defeated Ryan Walker over eight rounds. McGrail's speed and sharpness were evident early on, but Walker showed resilience.

McGrail was warned by his corner to assert himself more, as Walker began to find his rhythm. In the end, McGrail secured a victory with a score of 77-75, improving his record to 10-0 (5 KOs), while Walker's record stands at 12-7 (3 KOs).
