The UFC reportedly plans an electrifying main event featuring Brandon Royval and Manel Kape for its Fight Night card on March 1. The event, scheduled at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, is expected to serve as a potential No. 1 contender’s bout in the flyweight division.
Multiple sources have confirmed the bout is in the works, although official contracts have not yet been finalized. Ag. Fight was the first to report the news, with Royval and Kape further fueling anticipation by addressing the matchup on social media.
Brandon Royval, currently riding high on a two-fight win streak, expressed his eagerness to secure another title shot after facing reigning champion Alexandre Pantoja twice in his career.
“At the end of the day, I got the toughest résumé since I signed to the UFC,” Royval declared. “Y’all going to learn to put some respect on my name. Only the top 10 fighters. 4th main event in a row.”
Since his loss to Pantoja in 2023, Royval has rebounded impressively, earning decision victories over former champion Brandon Moreno and the previously undefeated Tatsuro Taira. A win over Kape could solidify Royval’s claim as the division’s top contender.
Manel Kape, on the other hand, enters the bout with momentum of his own. After a setback against Muhammad Mokaev in July, Kape delivered a statement performance with a third-round stoppage of Bruno Silva at UFC Tampa. Now 5-1 in his last six fights, Kape is equally motivated to make his case for a title shot. Addressing the battle indirectly, he wrote,
“He has to be quiet, he won’t fight for the belt. It will be with me, he will do what we are telling him to do. March 1 main event.”
This highly anticipated matchup promises fireworks as both fighters look to cement their position at the top of the flyweight rankings. With their recent performances and personal stakes, Royval and Kape are poised to deliver an unforgettable showdown.
