Bobby Green stuns Grant Dawson with 33-second knockout in UFC Vegas 80

Bobby Green pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year with a sensational knockout of Grant Dawson in the main event of UFC Vegas 80 on Saturday night.

Green, who was a underdog according to the betting odds, needed only 33 seconds to finish Dawson with a crisp left hand that sent him crashing to the mat. Green followed up with a flurry of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight and award him the victory.

“I knew I could knock him out,” Green said in his post-fight interview. “I knew he was going to come in and try to wrestle me, but I’m not afraid of anybody’s wrestling. I’ve been working on my striking a lot and I felt like I had the advantage there.”

Green also said that he initially thought he had landed a right hand that dropped Dawson, but he realized it was a left hand after watching the replay.

Green, who is now on a two-fight winning streak after submitting Tony Ferguson in June, said he wants to fight again as soon as possible and asked the UFC to book him for another fight before the end of the year.

“I want to fight again before 2023,” Green said. “I don’t care who it is, just give me somebody. I’m ready to go.”

Dawson, who suffered his first loss in the UFC and dropped his record to 20-2, did not speak to the media after the fight.
