Benson Henderson may have retired from the MMA cage, but his fighting spirit remains undiminished. Stepping into a new arena, Henderson is set to clash with fellow UFC and Bellator veteran Chris Avila in a one-night light heavyweight tournament at Misfits Boxing 18.

The event, scheduled for September 14 at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle, England, promises to be a night of thrilling matchups. While Henderson squares off against Avila in one semifinal, the other side of the bracket features Idris Virgo going toe-to-toe with Fes Batista. The winners of these two battles will face each other later that evening to determine the tournament champion.

For Henderson, this bout marks his first foray into professional boxing. His recent showdown with Anthony Pettis in Karate Combat last December left fans eager to see what he could bring to the boxing ring. Now, the time has come for Henderson to don the gloves and prove his mettle in a new discipline.

Chris Avila, on the other hand, is no stranger to the boxing ring. A protégé of the legendary Nate Diaz, Avila has carved out an impressive boxing career, boasting six consecutive wins. His victories over notable names like Anthony Pettis, Jeremy Stephens, and Anthony Taylor have solidified his reputation as a formidable opponent. As he prepares to face Henderson, Avila is undoubtedly looking to add another significant win to his record.

In addition to the Henderson-Avila showdown, the Misfits Boxing 18 card will also feature a highly anticipated main event. Social media sensation Elle Brooke will defend her MFB middleweight title against BKFC veteran Jenny Savage. Brooke, who recently fought to a draw with UFC veteran Paige VanZant, is eager to prove herself as the undisputed champion.

Though a rematch with VanZant seemed likely, it appears that the fight will be postponed for now, leaving fans eagerly awaiting what’s next.

The Misfits Boxing 18 event, also known as MF & DAZN: X Series 18, will be broadcast live on DAZN, offering fans worldwide a chance to witness these explosive matchups.
