Arnold Barboza Jr. Finds New Home with Golden Boy Promotions

Arnold Barboza Jr., the undefeated junior welterweight contender, is looking ahead to a promising 2024 after a tumultuous 2023. Barboza, with a record of 28-0 and 10 knockouts, expressed his confidence in his decision to join Golden Boy Promotions, led by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya. The Los Angeles-based promotion was a natural fit for Barboza, who hails from the same city.

In a recent statement, Barboza spoke highly of his new partnership, stating,

"It’s the best decision I think I made. Basically, Oscar runs L.A. I’m an L.A. kid. I think the world wants to see more of me."

He emphasized the need for strong support from his promoter, especially after experiencing ups and downs in his career over the past year.

Barboza's last fight was a significant victory over former two-division titlist Jose Pedraza in February 2023. Following this win, Barboza parted ways with his previous promoter, Top Rank, in search of better opportunities. He felt that he was not getting the attention he deserved, especially after missing out on a potential IBF title eliminator against Liam Paro and negotiations for another eliminator against Jose Ramirez.

However, Barboza's outlook has changed since joining Golden Boy Promotions. He is set to make his debut under their banner on January 6 in Las Vegas, coinciding with the return of another rising star, Vergil Ortiz Jr. Barboza is optimistic about the future and has his sights set on a world title shot in 2024.

With his unbeaten record and newfound confidence, Barboza is poised to make a strong statement in the junior welterweight division under the guidance of Golden Boy Promotions.
