The highly anticipated rematch between Arman Tsarukyan and UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is reportedly set to take place in early 2025. This matchup will give Tsarukyan a second chance to dethrone Makhachev and capture UFC gold, following his previous loss to the current champion.

Makhachev, who is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC, has dominated the lightweight division since winning the title. With notable victories over some of the sport’s top names, Makhachev has cemented himself as a formidable force in MMA. Now, Tsarukyan aims to be the next in line to challenge Makhachev, after working his way back up the rankings with an impressive run.

In an interview with Red Corner MMA, Tsarukyan revealed that the fight is expected to happen in early 2025.

“I knew that [the fight would happen next year], I was informed that this fight would not happen this year [and that] it will take place early next year,” Tsarukyan said.

Tsarukyan has remained focused and committed to his training, ready to seize the opportunity whenever it comes.

“I don’t care when this fight happens — even if it does in a year, I will keep working and moving towards this fight… It’s not about fighting Islam for me; it’s about becoming the champion.”

Tsarukyan also commented on the possibility of other top contenders fighting for an interim title in the meantime, mentioning names like Dan Hooker, Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, and Dustin Poirier. However, he believes many of them are undeserving at the moment due to recent losses.

As the fight approaches, fans eagerly anticipate whether Tsarukyan can avenge his previous loss and claim the UFC lightweight title. Will Makhachev continue his reign, or will Tsarukyan rise to the occasion?
