Angela Lee, a standout in ONE Championship, recently reflected on her MMA journey and revealed that she had seriously considered a move to the UFC before deciding to retire from the sport. The Lee family, known for their success in the ONE Championship, faced a tragic loss in late 2022 when Victoria Lee passed away. Less than a year later, Angela announced her retirement from MMA to focus on new ventures.

During a recent interview, Lee shared that she had contemplated joining the UFC multiple times. As a fighter always looking for the next challenge, the idea of testing herself against top-tier competition in the UFC was appealing. However, the prospect of leaving ONE Championship, especially while at the top, was daunting.

"I think if you ask any fighter, any champion, they wanna go out and test themselves," Lee said while speaking with MMA legend Demetrious Johnson. "That’s what it means to be a fighter. You’re always looking for the next challenge. If you ask any of them, yes, 100 percent, they would love to go and fight the best of the best and really find out who was No. 1."

Lee eventually chose to retire, recognizing that she was experiencing burnout. She admitted that, despite her love for the sport, the passion she once had was waning, and the pressures of competing at the highest level were taking a toll. Although her decision to step away was difficult, it was driven by a need to be honest with herself and prioritize her well-being.

Angela Lee’s legacy in ONE Championship remains significant, and while the thought of her competing in the UFC intrigues many fans, her contributions to the sport are already well established.
