Amanda Nunes open to joining WWE after retiring from MMA

Numerous professional athletes and fighters have indicated interest in transitioning from their sport to pro wrestling.

Some MMA competitors, including Paige VanZant and Cain Velasquez, have done that. Others have expressed a desire to wrestle, including Colby Covington, Daniel Cormier, and Conor McGregor.

This Saturday's main event of UFC 289 will feature Amanda Nunes vs. Irene Aldana, the UFC Women's Featherweight and Bantamweight Champion. Aldana was brought in to fill in for Julianna Pea, who had to withdraw due to fractured ribs.

While speaking with the New York Post, Nunes was asked about the idea of joining WWE after her career in MMA ends.

“It depends on the contract, you know? (If she’d go to WWE) If the contract is amazing, why not? What I wanted to do in MMA, I did already — even more than I thought in my head when I went through my whole career. I became a double champion. I wanted only one — I had two … I’m so happy, and whatever comes after I’m done with UFC, we’ll see. For sure, you guys will see me around anyways.”
