Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, known for his accomplishments in the octagon, has voiced his puzzlement at being placed on the prelims for UFC 310. Sterling, who successfully defended his bantamweight title three times, is now making waves in the featherweight division. His upcoming fight against rising star Movsar Evloev is seen as a critical step toward a potential title shot in his new weight class.

Despite the significance of the matchup, the UFC has slated it for the prelims, leaving Sterling confused and reflective about his placement on the card.

“I didn’t know if I should have been insulted by the placement on the fight card or glass half-full,” Sterling admitted on his YouTube channel. “That’s the best way I try to look at everything in life. I get to fight earlier and be done earlier, get to pop open a fresh bottle of Funk Harbor, hang out with my friends, and celebrate a big win. I was a little confused by it, of course.”

Sterling, dubbed "The Funk Master," has long been considered one of the UFC’s top competitors. Many fans and analysts expected his fight with Evloev, a contender with an undefeated UFC record, to feature prominently on the main card. However, Sterling acknowledged that the UFC’s decision-making process often follows its logic.

“They have their rhyme or reason for what they do, the UFC brass, and it is what it is,” he continued. “At the end of the day, it’s not my organization. I don’t call the shots. I just go out there and compete, and it’s up to me to prove these guys wrong that hey, I am a main card fighter.”

Sterling remains determined to make a statement, promising an electrifying performance.

“I think people are going to be in for a very big surprise, and the UFC is going to realize, ‘We messed up big time by not putting this on the main card.’'

Sterling’s fight at UFC 310 represents a crucial moment in his career, and with a win, he could solidify his place as a top contender in the featherweight division.
