Aljamain Sterling blasts Dana White for criticizing him

Aljamain Sterling responded to Dana White on his podcast, The Weekly Scraps. On episode 232 of his podcast, which he uploaded to his official YouTube page, the UFC bantamweight champion responded to UFC President Dana White.

At the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight news conference, White was questioned about Sterling's upcoming fight. Prior to the fight's announcement, Sterling had previously said that he would need some time to recover before taking on Sean O'Malley in August.

To this, Dana White said that the bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling was "one of those guys who can’t get out of his way," alluding to the notion that Sterling had initially tried to postpone the bout.

Sterling replied to these comments on his podcast, saying:

“Like, what does that even mean? Just clarify what that even means. If you’re going to say that because of me saying, yeah, I’m fighting, but I’m also banged up and I want to see how my body [feels], there has never been a fight that was scheduled where people signed the contract — and remember, contracts are just a formality.

No one is going to sign a contract and just not show up in the UFC. That just doesn’t happen, so let’s stop pretending that’s a thing. I agreed to the fight, I agreed to the T.J. fight — if you want to ask Dana, ask Dana when I signed the T.J. contract, you guys are going to be wildly surprised. When I say I’m going to show up, I f****** show up and I fight. If we make a deal, I’m a man of my word. I show up and compete every single time. I do what champions do.”

Don't play with my name bro. If we're gonna do this together let's get on the same page let's do this.

The main event of UFC 292 in Boston will see Aljamain Sterling defending his bantamweight title against Sean O'Malley, according to the organisation.

After narrowly overcoming Henry Cejudo in a split decision, Sterling is very busy and plans to make his second defence in just four months.
