Alexandre Pantoja Submits Kai Asakura, Calls Out Demetrious Johnson for a Legacy Fight
Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura

Alexandre Pantoja solidified his status as the undisputed flyweight king with a dominant performance in the UFC 310 main event. Facing RIZIN champion Kai Asakura, who earned a title shot in his UFC debut, Pantoja left no doubt about his superiority, showcasing his elite grappling and finishing skills.

From the opening bell, Asakura appeared eager to prove himself, firing crisp strikes and landing a few clean shots at the Brazilian champion. However, Pantoja quickly imposed his game plan, dragging the fight to the canvas. Despite Asakura's efforts to scramble and regain his footing, Pantoja’s relentless pressure kept him in control.

As the second round began, Pantoja wasted no time securing another takedown, immediately advancing to Asakura’s back. Demonstrating his world-class submission skills, Pantoja methodically worked to sink in a rear-naked choke. After a few adjustments, he locked in the hold, putting Asakura to sleep at the 2:05 mark of the round.

“This is the level, the UFC level that’s here so high,” Pantoja declared triumphantly. “You think some Japanese [fighter] going to come here and take my belt? No. When the octagon is locked, this is my town, this is my city.”

The victory marked Pantoja’s third successful title defense, further cementing his dominance in the flyweight division. With his sights set on solidifying his legacy, Pantoja made an unexpected callout to the legendary Demetrious Johnson.

“He doesn’t fight anymore. He retired this year. But this is something for you, Demetrious Johnson,” Pantoja said. “I’m the GOAT here. If you want to prove you’re the GOAT, come back.”

While Johnson remains retired and under contract with ONE Championship, Pantoja’s bold challenge reflects his hunger to establish himself as the greatest flyweight in MMA history. With no clear contenders on the horizon, Pantoja's callout could ignite discussions about a potential cross-promotional showdown.

Pantoja’s submission win over Asakura not only showcased his skill set but also sent a powerful message to the rest of the division: the flyweight throne is firmly in his grasp.
