At UFC 307, reigning Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira showcased his devastating striking ability once again, securing his third consecutive title defense by defeating Khalil Rountree via TKO in the fourth round. Despite the victory, Pereira did not take Rountree lightly. In his post-fight interview, he praised Rountree as one of his toughest opponents to date, acknowledging the challenge Rountree posed even as he maintained control throughout most of the fight.

Pereira started strong, using his signature precision and powerful kicks to keep Rountree at bay. But Rountree, known for his relentless pressure and aggressive stand-up game, was not an easy target. Throughout the first three rounds, Rountree landed several significant strikes, keeping Pereira on his toes and ensuring that this title defense would be far from easy. Pereira managed to counter with his own flurry of combinations, doing visible damage but unable to put Rountree away early.

The fourth round proved decisive. Pereira's conditioning and ability to wear down his opponents became clear as he ramped up the pressure. With a perfectly timed right hand followed by a series of brutal punches, he had Rountree staggering. The referee stepped in to stop the fight as Pereira delivered the finishing blows, securing the TKO victory at the 4th round of the round.

While Pereira retained his title, he admitted that Rountree forced him to dig deep, landing some hard shots that tested his resilience.

What’s Next for Alex Pereira?

With three consecutive title defenses at Light Heavyweight under his belt, speculation is swirling about what’s next for Alex "Poatan" Pereira. Post-fight, the question on everyone’s mind was whether he would return to Middleweight to challenge for the belt. Many fans were eager to see him face Dricus Du Plessis, the rising champ in the division. However, Pereira put those rumors to rest, explaining that his friendship and training partnership with Sean Strickland prevent him from making a move back to that division. As he wants to see the rematch and Sean claim the Middleweight throne back.

As for the Light Heavyweight division, the landscape is wide open for Pereira. With no clear next contender, fans are left to wonder who will step up to challenge the Brazilian powerhouse. Could it be a Jiri trilogy? Magomed has earned his shot. Johnny Walker would be an interesting matchup. Whatever happens next, Fight.TV is ready for it, and so are the fans.

Pereira continues to prove that he is one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC, and his journey as Light Heavyweight champion is far from over. Whoever challenges him next better be prepared for war because Pereira isn’t planning on giving up his throne anytime soon.
